If your phone's home screen has turned into a graveyard of half-remembered school logins, here's the short version: Bozeman School District 7 parents really do need about seven separate tools, and they don't talk to each other. **PowerSchool** handles enrollment and grades, **MySchoolBucks** loads lunch money, the district's meal-menu link currently points to **MealViewer** (though at least one school's own site links to a different menu tool, Nutrislice; more on that below), **MySchoolApps** is where you apply for free or reduced meals, **FirstView** tracks the bus in real time, a **TeamDynamix** web form is the actual bus registration, and **Canvas** is where classwork lives. None of these are optional add-ons. They're the plumbing of a normal BSD7 school year, so it's worth five minutes to know what each one is for.

## What is PowerSchool for?

PowerSchool is BSD7's student information system, and the Parent Portal is your account inside it: enrollment forms, emergency contacts, and (once school's in session) grades and attendance all live here. The district has moved away from paper forms entirely, so this is the one account you genuinely cannot skip. You create an account and link each child using the access ID and password your school sends home, then log in going forward at the [PowerSchool Parent Portal](https://bsd7.powerschool.com/public/home.html?ref=patrickzimny.com) (setup steps are laid out on the district's [Parent Portal account page](https://bsd7.ss4.sharpschool.com/cms/One.aspx?portalId=112502&pageId=2900256&ref=patrickzimny.com)). New-student enrollment itself is a separate PowerSchool-hosted form, linked from the district's [Enrollment page](https://www.bsd7.org/our-district/enrollment?ref=patrickzimny.com).

## What is MySchoolBucks for?

MySchoolBucks is the online payment system for putting money on your kid's meal account, so they're not stuck paying with change or eating on account balance. The district lists it as a "Popular Link" on its [Food Services page](https://www.bsd7.org/our-district/departments/food-services?ref=patrickzimny.com); you log in directly at [myschoolbucks.com](https://www.myschoolbucks.com/ver2/login/getlogin?ref=patrickzimny.com).

## Is it MealViewer or Nutrislice for lunch menus?

Honestly, it depends which BSD7 page you're looking at, and that's worth saying plainly rather than picking one and pretending it's settled. The district-wide [Food Services page](https://www.bsd7.org/our-district/departments/food-services?ref=patrickzimny.com) lists **MealViewer** as its "Popular Link" for menus, pointing to [schools.mealviewer.com/district/BozemanSchoolDistrict7](http://schools.mealviewer.com/district/BozemanSchoolDistrict7?ref=patrickzimny.com). But at least one individual school (Hyalite Elementary) links its own "Lunch Menu" straight to **Nutrislice**, at [bsd7.nutrislice.com](https://hy.bsd7.org/students-parents?ref=patrickzimny.com) from its Students & Parents page. I couldn't find anything on either site explaining the overlap or which one is being phased out. My best guess as a parent, not an insider: the district switched (or is mid-switch) and not every school page got updated. Practical takeaway: check your own kid's school website first, and if that link is dead, fall back to the district's MealViewer link.

## What is MySchoolApps for?

MySchoolApps is the online application for free or reduced-price school meals, run through Heartland (the same payment company behind MySchoolBucks). It's linked from the district's [Food Services page](https://www.bsd7.org/our-district/departments/food-services?ref=patrickzimny.com); the direct district link is [myschoolapps.com/Home/DistrictRedirect/BOZEMANUSD\_MT](https://www.myschoolapps.com/Home/DistrictRedirect/BOZEMANUSD%5FMT?langid=1&ref=patrickzimny.com). One heads-up, and it's gotten more pressing: the page has displayed "Bozeman School District is not currently accepting applications online" since at least July. It still says that as of August 13, eighteen days before school starts. I'll keep checking. If it's still closed when you need it, call the Food Services office rather than waiting on the website.

## What is FirstView for?

FirstView is the parent app for real-time school bus tracking. It shows you where your kid's bus actually is so you're not guessing at the curb. It's run by First Student, the company that operates BSD7's buses under contract, and it's described on the district's [Transportation page](https://www.bsd7.org/our-district/departments/transportation?ref=patrickzimny.com) with setup instructions in English and Spanish. Get the app at [myfirstview.com](https://myfirstview.com/?ref=patrickzimny.com).

## What is the TeamDynamix form for?

This is the one that trips people up because it doesn't look or feel like a school website. TeamDynamix is a general-purpose ticketing platform, and BSD7 uses it to host the actual bus registration request. There's no separate "bus registration" page with its own URL you'd stumble on by browsing; the district's [Transportation page](https://www.bsd7.org/our-district/departments/transportation?ref=patrickzimny.com) links out to it as the **Online Bus Registration Form**, which lives at [bsd7.teamdynamix.com](https://bsd7.teamdynamix.com/TDClient/39/Portal/Requests/TicketRequests/NewForm?ID=704&RequestorType=Service&ref=patrickzimny.com). I've bookmarked that link myself because I could never find it by clicking around the site fresh.

## What is Canvas for?

Canvas is BSD7's learning management system. The district states directly that "Bozeman Public Schools uses CANVAS as the Learning Management System (LMS) in the District." It's where teachers post assignments, grades within courses, and materials. Kids generally get in through [ClassLink](https://launchpad.classlink.com/bsd7?ref=patrickzimny.com) single sign-on. Parents can create their own view using a pairing code from the teacher (younger grades) or the student (grade 3 and up), through the district's [Canvas parent support page](https://sites.google.com/bsd7.org/bsd7canvas/parents?ref=patrickzimny.com), logging in at [bsd7.instructure.com/login/canvas](https://bsd7.instructure.com/login/canvas?ref=patrickzimny.com).

## Anything else worth knowing?

If a meal account ever runs negative and you want to help cover it (your own kid's or another family's), the district's Food Services page also links a [RevTrak donation page](https://bsd7.revtrak.net/donations/?ref=patrickzimny.com#/v/student-meal-account-donations) for exactly that.
