Pick something Bozeman knows. A huckleberry, a school bus, a grizzly, Sacagawea Peak. See it measured in fairies, drawn to true scale. Kids can type their own height and get their own number. The math is just division: your thing ÷ one fairy. A 4-inch fairy is a third of a foot, so an 8-foot grizzly is 24 fairies. It works on paper too, which is the point.
About that 4-inch fairy: field reports say 4 to 6 inches, and I'm using the small end. It's provisional. Bumblewood's builders make real doors for real fairies. When the village opens I'm going to measure them and update the number, and every answer on the page changes at once. That's how ratios work, and that's the fun of it.
